Ruff N Smooth to sue Guru for $10,000
Ruff N Smooth are in the news to take Guru on for performing their Send Your Fire single in Gabon over the weekend.
The duo claims they told Guru not perform the record because another event house in Gabon had booked them just to come perform the single very soon.
Guru on the other hand closed his 15 track performance with "Send Your Fire" and the duo wants Guru to pay them about $10,000 for using the song in his set.
A member of the duo Bullet among other things mentioned music brands that were strong struggling for a hit song. He told Happy FM’s Showbiz Xtra;
“In Ghana, artists survive with songs and not brands. And so you have to keep your brand alive with songs. Many artists have been around for a while but as soon as you stop making hits, you vanish.
“If you go to Nigeria, Tony Tetuila is still performing while Tic Tac is not performing. It’s real and he understands it. It’s the way the industry and game works.
“Akatakyie should be performing; KK Fosu should be trending and performing. They have the brands but they don’t have the song. ”

I have been a victim of gender inequality - Becca
Afro pop singer, Rebecca Acheampong, known for her stage name, Becca, has bemoaned the spate of gender inequality in Ghana.
The songstress, who has joined some artistes across the globe on a United Nations project to fight gender inequality, said this became evident following the controversy that surrounded her trip to 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The United Nations project seeks to lead to reform in gender inequality and injustice, eradicating extreme poverty and climate change.
She cited the brouhaha that followed her nomination to perform at the Ghana village during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil with the Black Stars as an example sheer chauvinism.
“I am actually really unhappy about gender inequality because I am a typical example of that. I have experienced so much with some of the things I have done even from last year travelling to Brazil and coming back with so much controversy because they do not believe that a woman can go or do anything with merit, they believe it has to be through something,” she lamented.
The development, she added, jolted her and she decided to spearhead the fight against inequality and injustice.
In the “Da Ke Da” singer’s opinion, people castigated her after the Brazil trip because it was men’s football and not a field for a woman to explore adding that it is unfortunate that Ghanaians are still stuck with the mentality that some things are for men only.
In the year 2000, some world leaders designed the Millennium Development Goals for the next 15 years. This year, 2015 marks the fifteenth year.
Becca revealed that, most of the goals have not been met and due to that, the eight goals have been broken into seventeen goals with climate change as the new addition.
Becca worried the discrimination against women in Africa has caused women to be timid.
“I think everyone was created in God’s image and likeness, we are equal to the men. There are certain things that obviously distinguish us which is most of the time our physical features but I know a lot of things that men have done that women have done as well and vice versa and so when it comes to this particular thing, I think it is not just about women being equal but it is also about men.”
According to her, as an ambassador for both genders, “I would definitely stand up for women more because I believe that a lot of women in Africa have been depressed and suppressed and it is about time we came out and revealed our strength.”
One hundred and ninety-three leaders across the globe will converge in New York on September 25 to endorse these seventeen goals.
To add a voice to the project, Becca has teamed up with other artistes, including rapper Sarkodie to record a song, ‘Tell Everybody’.
The song also features Yemi Alade (Nigeria), Mafikizolo (South Africa), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Sauti Sol (Kenya) and Toofan (Togo). It is produced by visually impaired sound engineer, Cobhams from Nigeria.
'Using illuminati symbols through my show was a mistake'
Sarkodie in his recent media run revealed that, the several illuminati symbols that were projected was not part of his plan.
The illuminati rapper explaining the reason behind the problem said;
“Yes, I projected illuminati symbols for the illuminati song. But the whole show, we had a day to rehearse. The one in charge of the projections was a white man.
I told him those projections were for only one track which was "illuminati" and so when I get to that record, he should start and end, immediately I end that particular track.
But apparently it was projected throughout my performance. But it was not supposed to but things sometimes go wrong.”
Talking about his Obrafour featured Elijah track, Sark said;
“This Elijah beat was originally for Kwaw Kese. It was supposed to be his song but he was wasting time and did not rap on it. So I heard it and told Hammer.
He told me it was for Kwaw. I waited for a year and Kwaw was still not coming through to record to the song; hence I told Hammer to allow me and that’s how I got to record my vocals on this beat.”

Sarkodie explains the difference between him and other rappers
Sarkodie in a recent interview with Citi FM talked about the Twi language, artists he listened to and the difference between him and other rappers.
Currently promoting his Mary album, Sark explained;
“The funny thing is I don’t speak Twi, Obrafour actually speaks Twi. He knows how to pronounce certain words, but I don’t know. But I’m good at having a very good Twi accent so it makes somebody that likes Twi enjoy it when I say something.
“People think rap is about bars. No, it’s how you say it. If you are talking to someone and you are pissed, the emotions you use, should be the same when you are rapping about it.”
The Elijah rapper talking about his influences in the rap scene revealed;
Obrafour, Reggie Rockstone, Okomfour Kwadee and Lord Kenya were very influential. Those are the classics, I still listen to them till date. But I don’t see myself as them; like Obrafour did, coming after Reggie. I am doing what the new ears will be used to, so when the next person comes, he will bring a new feel to the whole thing to make it refreshing to the new audience too.”
Talking about the difference between his style and his comrades, he concluded;
“Sometimes I ask myself the difference between me and the other rappers out there. And I think all they do is to rap and that’s the problem. I think the rap should be like you are having a conversation. It has to be free. But you have to be an addict of rap to be in that zone or level.”
I can’t wear any other colour apart from white – Barima Sidney
It may not be easy for an artist to wear a particular colour for several years, but Hiplife artist Barima Sidney says he remains very comfortable donning the white colour in all his public appearances for the past twenty (20) years.
The ‘Donkomi’ singer says he loves the colour white, which has become synonymous with his personality over the years, adding that he’ll find it very difficult to wear any other colour during his public performances.
Speaking on Adom TV over the weekend, Barima Sydney who is one of the very few musicians aside Reggie Rockstone to start the hiplife genre in the mid 90’s, said after doing close to two decades of Hiplife, he is set to come out with a gospel truck which will blow the minds of music lovers and his fans in particular.
“I’m coming out with a gospel song and I know it will do very good when it’s finally out. I featured the amazing Ceci Twum, I chose to involve her in my song because I like her music and respect her for how humble she is”.
The ‘Apuskeleke’ hit singer added that he uses his music mainly as a tool to address social and political ills, which over the years has sometimes landed him in trouble; however he remained committed to pursuing that course because he believes that is his calling.
I will act nude for $1million – Princess Shyngle
Whereas some of her colleagues have shied away from taking or acting nude in movies, Princess Shyngle will take the bait if paid a $1 million.
The actress told KOD on 360Live on Live FM over the weekend “acting nude doesn’t mean anything bad.”
“Yes, Yes. Hell yes, I will. First of all, my favourite actress in this entire world, who is the very first black woman to ever win an Oscar was Halle Berry.
“Yes and the movie James Bond, her being nude, it doesn’t mean anything. You acting nude doesn’t mean anything bad”.
She adds, “You are acting a character, that’s a job you doing you understand. It doesn’t mean anything, its not like I’m actually acting porn you understand.
The only thing is I will not be a 100% nude, maybe you will see part … not my everything. There are certain things you don’t show.”

I was promised 20, 000 dollars to lie against Asamoah Gyan – Sarah Kwabla’s LANLORD
MATTHEW BANAHENE, landlord of Sarah Kwabla, the lady who is alleging that she was raped and impregnated by Black Stars Captain Asamoah Gyan has opened a can of worms said the lady and her mother promised to pay him an amount of $20,000 if he could tell a lie to support her rape allegations against the footballer.
Mr. Banahene told NEWS-ONE that his tenant, Sarah Kwabla first contacted him with her mother to hatch the plot and when he refused to cooperate, she returned again with Ekow Micah to have a second meeting with him and assure that that the police had already been sorted out and all they wanted was for him to go write a false statement that he heard her screaming and yelling and struggling with Asamoah Gyan.
As has become characteristic of Sarah Kwabla, she neither picked her phone calls nor replied to sms text messages NEWS-ONE sent to her to get her respond to the allegations from her landlord.
Below are excerpts of the exclusive interview Matthew Banahene granted NEWS-ONE
How did this happen?
She came to me with her mother and another woman and they said I should follow them to the police station to go and tell a lie against Asamoah Gyan that I heard him raping Sarah and that she was shouting and there was a struggle in her room. They begged me to tell the police that when Asamoah Gyan came to the house, I heard Sarah shouting and begging him not to rape her. I was shocked and advised them to stop the nonsense but they insisted that if I could help them with the lie, they would get an amount of $100,000.00 from Asamoah Gyan and that they would give me 20 percent of the money which is $20,000. I did not agree but she came back with Ekow Micah to beg me to help them nail Asamoah Gyan.
Why did you not agree?
“The truth is that I did not even see Asamoah Gyan the day he came here and I did not hear her shout. I did not even know they had sex on that day so what she and her mother were asking me to do was strange. But I am not surprised. There was a time she did same thing to a certain man who came to sleep in her room. Next morning, she accused the man of rape and pregnancy and crated a big fight.
“I remember the man had to park his car in my house for three days before he could come for it and when we asked him, he said she was punishing him for consensual sex she had with him because she asked for some big money he did not have.
What did you tell the mother?
I warned them to stop the nonsense and that I am not a greedy wicked thief but they did not agree. So I remember that on July 7 or so, Ekow Micah also called me and said we should meet at Kokrobitey. We met at Big Milly’s. Sarah joined us and it was on the same thing. Ekow said I should help them with a statement to the police that I heard Sarah shouting rape, rape and that later I saw Asamoah Gyan coming out of the room. I told him it can’t work and that I can’t defend the lie if the case goes to court but Ekow insisted that he has already done all police arrangements and that there was nothing to fear.
Did Ekow also promise you anything?
He said the same thing. Ekow said they would get $100,000 from Asamoah Gyan and that they would give me $20,000. I believed him because I have known him as her lover and everyone in our community knows about their relationship. They are very popular. She is very troublesome and has this tattoo of a vulture and a snake on her legs.
Why did you not report them to the police.
I have done that at the Regional Police headquarters. I have already given them my statement. I did not report them the same day, but I did later. They are very dangerous people and they seem to have a lot of police connections so even if you report them, you won’t get far, I have had several police cases with sarah Kwabla and Ekow Micah and the case never gets anywhere.
Look even the day Ekow got arrested, Sarah Kwabla told me that she would call the IGP personally and get him released immediately. But I think because the media picked the story up and then there was a narcotic charge involved, it was difficult. They really have some connecting at the top.
Tell us about some of the cases.
There was one time, she brought police to my house that I had stolen her phones from her room. I got arrested and during investigations it became clear she only wanted to spoil my name because I was asking them to pay me my overdue rent advance. Later, Ekow managed to prove to the police that Sarah’s phone had not been stolen and that the same phone chip she was using before the complaint of phone theft was the same chip she was using.
When the police examined the chip, they realized she had not gone for a sim card replacement although she claimed the chip got stolen with the phone. But she was never arrested for deceit of public officers and for spoiling my name. There are many instances where she walks away free no matter what she does. Even though her rent has expired, I can’t sack her.
When did the rent expire?
Oh they (Sarah and Ekow) rented this place for only a year and I gave it to them for GHc400 a month. The contract was that I wanted two years advance so that I could use the money to pay the person who actually renovated the place but could not live there because her work transferred her outside Accra. After three months, they started to fight with me, accuse me of theft, from one police case to another. The one year has expired and that have not given me a dime apart from the first payment they did.
You rented out your two –bedroom self-contained apartment with CCTV installation for GHc400 per month?
There is no CCTV anywhere in my house. That report is false. Look, when Sarah and her mother came to me to help them lie against Asamoah Gyan, she said she used her lap top to record the sex and that she hid the laptop somewhere in the room. Later I heard her lawyer say she used CCTV. Till date, no one has seen the video. No police man, no lawyer, no journalist, no one has seen it.
CHRONOLOGY SHEET
Lawyers for Asamoah Gyan first reported Sarah Kwabla to the Odorkor Police station and claimed she was harassing the footballer and threatening to publicly release a recording of a sexual intercourse she had with her at her apartment.
Sarah denied the charge and told the sex was consensual and resulted in a pregnancy. It was agreed by both parties that Asamoah Gyan should take care of the pregnancy pending a paternity test to determine whether or not he was responsible.
Sarah Kwabla’s lawyers received the first of payment from the Gyans after a date for the paternity test had been agreed and part payment of the coast paid by the Gyans.
Sarah Kwabla, on the day of the paternity test, did not turn up. But rather went to the Ministry’s Police Station (DOVVSU) to lodge a new case of rape and sodomy against the footballer, some five months after the sex.
The Gyan camp latter reported to the Airport Police that a journalist was attempting to use the story and supposed video to extort money from them and had threatened to blackmail the footballer with the said video unless he paid some money.
The police, in investigating the complaint caught the journalist red handed while collecting the agreed blackmail fee from the Gyan camp. Further investigations revealed there were several audio recordings between Sarah Kwabla, Ekow Micah and the journalist on how to use the story to milk the footballer.
Sarah Kwabla at this point claimed the pregnancy had suffered a miscarriage. Ekow Micah also got into double trouble when police, while investigating the extortion case, found on him a substance to be narcotics.
NEWS-ONE would continue with transcripts of Matthew Banahene’s interview in our subsequent editions.

Lesbians wouldn’t let me rest – Ghanaian actress Ella Mensah
Sexy Ella Mensah is a Ghanaian actress who spends most of her time in Nigeria. A mother of one, Ella came to Nigeria to shoot a film and ended up shooting five other films back-to-back.
Now, she is seen more as a Nollywood actress than a Ghollywood one. To drive home this fact, the actress permanently has on her Blackberry, a personal message “Hottest Ghanaian actress in Nollywood”.
Hot and wild as they come, Ella doesn’t set rigid rules for herself. As an actress, the Ghanaian beauty takes on roles many of her colleagues wouldn’t dare.
Getting really romantic and sensual on set is to Ella what candy is to a child and she has even played as a lesbian, a role many wouldn’t touch.
“Oh yes, I’ve played a couple of them, a lot of them. October is going to be exactly three years. I’ve been in the movie industry, and I think the second movie I ever shot in Nigeria, was a lesbian movie. It’s called ‘Gone Girl’ where I played as Amanda Ebeye’s lesbian partner.
I’ve played a couple of lesbian roles but funny enough, I hardly remember all the titles because most are working titles. Even in ‘Educated Housemaids’ too, I had a lesbian scene”, she told Potpourri in a chat.
But it would appear her lesbian roles are stalking her as the actress confessed to Potpourri that many lesbians now harass her on Facebook with all sorts of propositions, thinking she’s one of them.
“A lot on Facebook; you know when your fans watch your movie I think most of them think the character is who you are, so I get so many girls on Facebook; lesbian girls telling me how much they love me and all that, but I always send a message across that I am not a lesbian but they don’t get it because they see you acting so in movies” she said mournfully.

Ghanaian, 14, wins Marcello Mastroianni’s Best Young Actor Award
A 14-year old Ghanaian street vendor, Attah Abraham has won the Marcello Mastroianni’s Best Young Actor Award at the 2015 Venice Film Festival. He won the award for his lead performance in a movie alongside Idris Elba.
Attah Abraham who is said to be without any acting background was picked from the streets of Ghana during the shooting of Netflix’s soon to be released movie “Beasts of No Nation.” According the Director of the movie, Cary Fukunaga, Atta Abraham was randomly selected on the streets. Cary Fukunaga according to the Business Insider said: “the lead in ‘Beasts of No Nation’ was essentially a street vendor before we shot the film. [He had] zero film experience, little education…but he became a somewhat professional actor, which was astounding to watch.
Abraham’s character joins a militant group from an unnamed West African country that is led by a brutal warlord, played by Idris Elba (“Luther”). ”The director explained that about 30 of the kids were also selected “and we did this theater workshop and tried scenes that were in the script, and we would improvise. The kids are fast learners, they quickly understood that the better they did the longer they stayed [ as potential casts].” He said Abraham performed extremely well.
“We had a difficult one long take that he had to perform; probably the most intense thing I ever asked him to do in the film. He had six or seven kids around him performing [in the scene], and I watched him become a leader among these kids and make sure they stayed in focus and not f— up the shot so they didn’t have to do it over again.
I gave almost no direction to those kids. Abraham was driving that scene." The director stated that he will not adopt Abraham but will take responsibility for his education back in Ghana.
“For Abraham, he’s only 14 so we had to get him up to speed in school, so right now we put him into boarding school back in Ghana so he can get up to normal 14 year old academics." By nature of us crossing into these people’s lives you have some responsibility there to make their lives better, but at the same time you’re not adopting a child, by any means,” Cary Fukunaga added.

My Anas prediction was ‘coincidental’ - Sarkodie
Hiplife Artiste, Sarkodie has clarified that his prediction on ace journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ latest expose was purely coincidental.
The song, which was produced in collaboration with rapper Jayso, has become a talking point after journalist Anas Arimeyaw Anas’ investigative piece, captured judges taking bribes.
The one time BET Award Winner in the song, had warned judges to desist from taking bribes from their clients.
“Police fio, Judge fo) aa mo regye amanfo) dough, monhw3 no yie na Anas reba oo.” the lyrics said.
This literally means: “the judges taking bribes should be careful because Anas is heading there to expose you.”
The lyrics of the rapper’s 2012 “Pizza and Burgar” song, has fueled suspicions that he was privy to the latest exposé by the journalist.
